About me
I live in Gauteng, South Africa. I am the proud father of two great boys. I aim to raise my boys as independent, respectful, socially responsible, emotionally grounded, exceptional men. I have a fascination with business, compounding capital, creating wealth, and establishing leaders in order to serve and better the society we live in. I have a clear purpose in life, I have a definite plan to achieve my purposes, and I have loads of passion mixed in to fuel my journey from plan to purpose.
I am employed and work in the financial services industry. Together with amazing business partners I am involved in a number of interesting business and teaching opportunities outside of my 9 to 5 environment. One of our exciting ventures is Richland Investment Holdings. It is an investment holding company with the aim of empowering people in order to understand and create sustainable wealth over the long term. At Richland Investment Holdings we focus on empowering all our partners to the mind, method and money of value investing. Have a look at our ideas and let me know what you think please.
Be extraordinary today!

My little 'mirrors'
A couple of pictures of my little 'mirrors', i.e. the two people that reflect my values and approach to life. I love them with everything I have! I am sure sometimes they don't love me that much...especially when dad is going on about respect for everyone and all things, choosing to give rather than take, taking responsibility, or something like that... (see our principles below).
Our principles
Over time I have developed a set of principles that underpin our approach to life, to each other, and all relationships. Not having my boys in my life all the time, and therefore not always having the opportunity to demonstrate to them my approach to life, I had to develop a set of guiding principles which I could teach them.
These principles have been formulated in a simple way to ensure that they can understand and integrate them into their lives every day. They were developed with the one objective in mind - to raise two responsible, respectable, exceptional men. The boy's know these principles very well and whenever we need to discuss anything, plan a day or a course of action, or someone needs to be disciplined we use these principles to govern our actions and thoughts. Our principles are:
This might seem a little intimidating, but it works well for us, and generally ensures that things are tranquil, peaceful and respectful (as much as two boy's can be ;) )

Our principles are:
- Respect for all people and all things
- Respect for yourself
- Always treat a girl like a princess
- We choose not to judge
- We choose to always be honest
- We choose, as far as possible, the good option in life (i.e. I try and teach the boy's an internal locus of control and to take responsibility for all their own actions and decisions - this is a tough one because it often, actually almost always, feels so unfair having to take responsibility...)
- We choose to always do our best (i.e. I try and teach the boy's to always do 5% more than other people are willing to do. I believe this will make you win in life, in any endeavour)
- We choose to listen to our heart mind (i.e. I try and teach the boy's that when your spirit is at peace inside you, you are likely on the right path and doing the right thing)
- We choose to be willing, accepting and reasonable in all we do
- We choose to have our money work for us (i.e. I try and teach the boy's about investment options, saving options, and managing/controlling the urge of short term gratification. This principle is very high in my hierarchy of values. However, I find this one a challenge to teach in our consumer-driven society)
This might seem a little intimidating, but it works well for us, and generally ensures that things are tranquil, peaceful and respectful (as much as two boy's can be ;) )
